Contraception and pregnancy

During the treatment of your cancer it is strongly advised not to get pregnant, because the treatments can have a deleterious effect on the embryo and the hormonal impregnation of the pregnancy can have an effect on the cancer.
Hormonal contraception is contraindicated. It is preferable to use an effective mechanical contraception: condoms, copper IUD, tubal ligation or vasectomy.
It is quite possible to become pregnant after breast cancer, but it is usually recommended to wait 2 to 3 years after the end of treatment.
If you wish, you may be offered a meeting with an oncofertility specialist to discuss fertility preservation.

Decreased libido

Drug treatments cause a series of side effects that can be associated with a decrease in libido, reinforced by a change in body image. All of this can have an impact on sex life.

It is important to distinguish the different causes of low libido in order to understand and manage it. We can refer you to specialists who will help you, individually or as a couple, to address these issues.
